Father/daughter team Bartley O’Hara and Lizzy O’Hara are delighted to announce the launch of O’Hara Federal Strategies, LLC in Washington, DC. With positive relations in bi-partisan circles in the legislative, regulatory and private sector arena, Bartley and Lizzy blend their decades of policy experience and keen knowledge of the legislative process to provide quality advice and insight for their clients.
“Observing the current legislative atmosphere and the legislative battles of the last 2 years, I remain convinced that never has it been more important to have a complete understanding of the legislative process as part of any public policy undertaking” said Bartley O’Hara from O’Hara Federal Strategies, LLC offices at 1875 Eye Street in Northwest Washington.
He went on to say “because in many instances, process is as high or sometimes even higher importance than the substance of a legislative proposal.”
Drawing on their nearly 60 years combine public policy experience—he a longtime legislative consultant, she with more than a decade on Capitol Hill as staffer to former Democratic Leader Richard A. Gephardt (D-MO) and Congressman Thomas J. Manton (D-NY)—Bartley and Lizzy are well prepared and qualified to offer practical advice and strategies to position their clients’ issues while navigating the turbulent waters of the current political world.
In addition to their thorough knowledge of the intracacies of the legislative process, Bartley and Lizzy have strong backgrounds issues such as agriculture, energy, environement, financial services, foreign policy, historic preservation, labor, tax, and transportation.
“Do we have an impressive Rolodex? Heck yeah! But we are unique in that we go beyond basic Hill intell (which is certainly important), but we also listen to client needs and works closely with them to frame realistic, well-thought out strategies to reach their policy goal. We also stress how the legislative process—it’s rules, formal and informal customs of Congress—can benefit or be obstacles to client goals.
“It’s easy in Washington to boast about your contacts to clients, but it’s a different thing to sit down with them to provide them with insight that goes beyond ‘who you know’” said Lizzy O’Hara.
Bartley followed “and because Lizzy and I come from different perspectives of the policy world, we also recognize the importance of understanding the ways different interests–for-profits, NGOs, unions and others– approach legislation and have a broad and long range of experience in accommodating the views on disparate issues, regions and people to legislative and regulatory processes.”
We pride ourselves on our ability to position client issues effectively.
